Footnotes: We selected 53Y from our 2011 calf crop because we felt he could fill a need for a bull to walk our pastures and sire performance cattle for our customers.
53Y is a homo polled dark blood red son of Crosby. As no more Crosby semen was available and we liked the job he did for us, we decided a Crosby son of 53Y’s quality and performance would be a good addition to our program.
His weaning and yearling weights were among the top weights in our bull pen and his EPD’s for these traits are in the top 3% of the breed.
His dam is a home-raised red cow we like. She is a daughter of Hart’s Extra Effort and brings new genetics from her sire’s and dam’s pedigree.
53Y has attracted attention of everyone who has seen him. His length, structure, performance and dark colour have all drawn very favourable comments.
We are impressed with his calves' performance and marketability. Three sons of Code Red sold in our 2014 Bull & Female Sale for an average of $7,416 with Lot 34 selling for $11,500.
